Life was busy but full of joy
Believe it or not, every moment I did enjoy
So many things to do in a day
I barely had time to idle away
Then one day out of the blue
Came a virus that gave me “the flu”
For days I was down
Turns out I had caught the “new bug in town”
It became harder to breathe as the days went by
Leaving me no option but to visit the hospital nearby
Coronavirus is deadly they said,
There were many a tragic stories that I too had read.
Away from family, every minute alone I was to spend
It is then that my nurse became my new best friend
She treated me, consoled me, counseled me
When all it was but gloom around me, good times ahead was what she made me
foresee.
“Social Distancing” is the new big deal
If not for my nurse’s close contact, I wouldn’t have healed
In a world where now staying apart is the need of the hour
A nurse’s selfless care is the real superpower
When the sickness engulfs me with fear
She holds my hand and makes me cheer
Even when death and misery keep piling on, my nurse keeps smiling on
The more contagious I was, the more courageous she was
Despite the risk to her own life, she strives for mine
She acts as a caretaker, a confidante, a friend; many roles in one blend
One day I am well enough to go home
As happy as I am, there also is a somber tone
For I am going to miss my new friend because of whom I am on the mend
To all the nurses out there, I have something to share
If not for your care, I wouldn’t be here.
God could not be everywhere, so he made nurses like you who care.
