INDIAN SENIORS ASSOCIATION OF ARIZONA (ISAA) – LA PRINCESA

March 1, 2018
INDIAN SENIORS ASSOCIATION OF ARIZONA (ISAA) – LA PRINCESA

On Jan 30, 2018, the day got underway with videos on Laughter Therapy, Sit-down Yoga, Acupressure Points and Cucumber Benefits. To remember Gandhiji on his death anniversary Shrikantbhai presented a couple of songs including Vaishanav Jan. Also a special video clip on patriotic song was shown. Other video clips included CHbhai & Lataben’s fiftieth anniversary celebration. Educational & Entertainment clips shown were-  Dilipkumar’s music, Purani Yaden by Mukesh, Manmade jungle in the midst of city in Chhattisgarhi, Chaudavi ka Chhand, Message for parents and grandparents by Sadhguru. Jitubhai complemented ladies and gents who presented their best last week during 26th January celebration. He talked about medical alert, and how to be prepared for an emergency trip to ER anytime. He thanked Munish and Aradhana Gupta for sponsoring the luncheon today. They have been very helpful and kind to seniors in the past too. He thanked Manjuben for her precious gift to ISAA as she brought back a framed photo of the deities for pujas.

On February 06th, 2018, the picnic at Rio Vista Park was just fantastic. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Over sixty five members and guests had a ball. Many enjoyed the walk along the trails. Others just socialized. Once the tea and snacks were announced everyone flocked to get their share. As their tummies were content for a while, the game of “Bingo” got underway. Joe and Gary conducted the game with precision. Winners were ecstatic. On top of all that there was cake cutting ceremony and happy birthday song for Joe. Just fabulous! No one realized that it was getting past the usual lunch time. The lunch was being served- khichadi, shaak, bhakari, papad, pickle, chhas and mohanthaal.Umm good! We thank Chandrikaben, Renukaben, Bhagavatiben, Dakshaben and all other volunteers who made the picnic a grand success.

On Feb 13, 2018, it was the day of colors- beautiful red, pink and many others. It was Valentine’s Day. All ladies were beautifully dressed and decked up with jewelry. Another BIG reason was the sixty first wedding anniversary of the Daulats-Prafulbhai & Hiraben. There was laughing and giggling during the socialization and photo taking ceremony. In memory of Maheshbhai Shah’s untimely demise one minute’s silence was observed before starting.  The routine of Laughter therapy, and sit-down yoga followed. In observation of Shivratri Jitubhai had clips pertaing to the significance of Shivratri, Shambho Shanker classical song, and another video of Shiv Shankar by young girl. A video clip pertaining to CPR live was shown. A classical Ghoomar dance performance by the Daulat’s granddaughters was picture perfect.. A video about better health by tongue movement, Dholi Taro Dhol Baje, and Dholi were shown too. The Daulats then had a cake cutting ceremony. Prafulbhai & Hiraben sponsored the luncheon of Pani Puri, bhel and Dahivada among other items. Just delicious. On behalf of ISAA packages of “trail mix” nuts were distributed to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Manjuben provided prasad to all on Shivratri’s occasion.

On Feb 20, 2018, as the program got underway at the end of socialization and exchange of pleasantries the gathering paid a tribute to Maheshbhai Shah, seventeen victims of Florida shootings, and Harbans Singhji. Everyone agreed that the US government needs some URGENT action to protect all victims of gun violence. In this respect the student from Florida school are organizing a march in Washington D.C. in March. The video clips today included –laughter therapy, sit-down yoga, first aid tips and anger management. The floor was then opened up for garba, bhangra, and other musical beats so everyone could participate in the celebration of Jack’s birthday, and Chandrika and Jack’s wedding anniversary. What a fun it was. The luncheon was sponsored by the happy couple. Their younger daughter joined in too.
