The heart of a father is the masterpiece of nature.”— Antoine François Prévost, Manon Lescaut
“A father’s love contributes as much — and sometimes more — to a child’s personality development as does a mother’s love,” say researchers. The more involved a father is, the more prosperous and happy his children will be.
A father’s affect can determine a child’s social life, grades at school, and future achievements.
In our lives, father has probably had the most impact out of anyone. While, there are rare cases where father was never present in a person’s life; for the people who did have a father, know how crucial he is to the betterment of their lives. Fathers work diligently sacrificing their own happiness just to provide food on the table and to see a smile on their family’s faces. For all the hard work they put in for their family, it’s only fair that they receive at least one day that’s dedicated just to them. However, fathers deserve more than just one day, therefore showing respect to father should be one of the uttermost important duties in our lives. The presence of a father can go unnoticed to the respective family, and it is not until we look at families without a father that we realize how crucial of a role fathers actually play. According to research done by the National Fatherhood Initiative, a family is 4 times more likely to be at the risk of poverty if the father of the family is absent.
Dr. David Popenoe, Professor of Sociology at Rutgers University and Co-Director of the National Marriage Project, has provided us with a good summary and overview of the subject. Here’s what he has to say: “Fathers are far more than just “second adults” in the home. Involved fathers – especially biological fathers – bring positive benefits to their children that no other person is as likely to bring. They provide protection and economic support and male role models. They have a parenting style that is significantly different from that of a mother and that difference is important in healthy child development.”
Undoubtedly, fathers play a vital and unparalleled role in healthy child development. We must exhibit and bestow our love and respect to our fathers each and every day. So, let’s make this father’s day a memorable one !
