IACRF Seniors Celebrated Candle Light Digitally supporting India

Candle or Digital Lamp Meeting for 9 minutes at Phoenix 9-00 PM supporting India Call

Prime minister of India Narendra Modi had suggested to all Indians to come out on their door or corridors and light the lamps on 5th April 2020 at 9-00 PM. To support that, IACRF Seniors organized the Zoom meeting for all the members and suggested members to join either with Diya or with flashlight of the cell phone. Most members were new to Zoom Meetings. However, a very large number of the members, if not all, joined the meeting enthusiastically led by Bhagubhai and Lalitbhai. We prayed together for the safety of the community and protecting ourselves against the fight with unknown Covid-19

ected” program while “Stay Home” period i.e. to discuss opportunities and also develop a plan to roll out and manage chosen activities. 

Prakash Kotecha briefed about “Open Up America Again” plan declared by US Gove
ment. What is Gating, what are the three phases and their criteria. Accordingly, we as seniors will be able to have possibilities of moving out in third phase and that will be at least two months from away if everything works very favorably by gating criteria all through the phases 1 and phase 2. The guidelines declared by the US Gove
ment for opening up USA again were shared to all the members by email.

Following decisions were taken in the meeting

1    Meet in a ZOOM Video Conference on every Thursday at 10:00 AM.  An URL link and the Meeting Number & Password will be sent to participants on each Thursday mo
ing. Moderators: Prakash Kotecha and Bhagubhai Patel

2.    Antakshari & Karaoke Meeting: 3:00 PM Mondays. Moderator: Pradyumna Kshatriya.

3.    To have opportunities for social interactions encourage Senior Group members       

a.    to form a Video Conference Group among their Senior friends and        

b.    to communicate using Facebook with their friends.

4.    Encourage members to form online or offline Groups for Playing card Games, Special Interest Topics, etc. observing the principles of social distancing. 

5.    Senior Group Get TogetherProgram Suspension:The program was suspended earlier till April 09. In light of the current scenario, the program remains suspended for the time being till further notice.

Meeting ended with the prayers for Sevantibhai Shah

Obituary: 

Seventibhai Shah, a civil engineer and longtime resident of Phoenix, AZ for 31 years, passed away April 13, 2020 at the age of 80. He was liked and loved by everyone.

In his retirement years, he was actively involved in the senior community, religious activities with JCGP and Ekta Mandir, religious studies in India and USA, politics, and loved to play cards with family and friends.  His generosity, sense of humor, smiley face and overall good nature will be forever missed. 

Generally, Senior Group meets every Monday and Thursday, 10:00AM to 3:00PM at the Indo-American Community Center located at 2809 W. Maryland Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85017.At present the meetings are suspended till further notice.  For information please contact Prakash Kotecha at pvkotecha@gmail.com.
