Every year, IACRF, selects a different charity to raise money for their cause and donates 100% of the money raised to the charity selected. In its 10th year of doing this, this year they selected A New Leaf Foundation and as part of the selection, two of their projects will receive the donation equally. One project selected supports a homeless shelter for men in Mesa, Arizona and the second project supports families suffering from domestic violence.
One primary Reason A New Leaf Foundation was selected because there have been cases in our South Asian community where families of women and children needing a shelter to get away from domestic violence received help through this charity. The men’s shelter trains men on how to re-integrate back into society and they have a very high rate of people moving from a state of homelessness back into a traditional environment. They prohibit the use of drugs and alcohol and provide training and facilities to stay away from such things and get back on their own feet. The center is capable of accommodating 84 people. In addition to these two programs, they also have various other programs operated under their umbrella. The efforts of IACRF each year with the different charities raise approximately $15,000-$20,000 a year.
